[Crew to Follow] – Elizabethe Lynch – part 2|WOC

It’s time for crew to follow! As promised last week, here is more about the ‘living the fly life’ girl.

Elizabethe as a Social Media Influencer

Elizabethe started the blog to keep her family informed, but it did not take much time for the word to spread. Soon she had a much larger following. And, she realized that this is the best way to take not just her family but the entire world on her travels.

She feels, “Even though they couldn’t physically travel with me, through social media it could be as though they were standing next to me. When I photograph or film something it’s because I hope to allow them to see the world through my camera lens and see it as as I see it.”

Anyone who has read her blog would agree with this. It is amazing to navigate through her blogs and read about diving with sharks (gasp) a or taking cooking classes in Thailand or just reading her love letter to Dubai. It makes you feel like you really are in all those places, travelling with her.

Here is one of my favorite quotes from Elizabethe’s interview, “I’ve always felt it was more satisfying to see things through more than just your own eyes. Through social media I am able to share my life with thousands of eyes. For me, that’s what makes the journey worth the climb.”

About her blog

While reading Elizabethe’s blog I was reminded of a quote by Mark Twain, ”

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”

Her blogs were an absolute joy to read. Most of her blogs also convey a strong social message. You realize how open-minded, free of prejudices and  stereotypes she is. She is willing to give everything and everyone a chance. I guess that’s the reason she is able to connect with so many people.

She does not just talk about her experiences while traveling, but gives the readers an insight about the history of the place as well – nitty gritty details that make you really understand the place. Along with all of this amazing information, Elizabethe also shares tips and suggestions about that place; best places to visit, activities to do, costs, hotels etc.

Next time while planning my travel, I am totally going to check out her blog for recommendations.

Funniest experience:

Here are some of the funniest experiences Elizabethe has had as a social media star.

“I literally just had one about half an hour ago. I was shopping in Zara and this girl goes ‘Hey! Living_theflylife! I love you!’ Turns out she works for Etihad and has been following me for a while! We traded contact details and just like we made the hashtag #unitedbywings come true!”

We love how despite Elizabethe’s popularity she is still so humble and the experiences she shares on her blog are a testament to that. She is someone who is aspirational yet approachable.

Here is another serendipitous experience

“The second best experience was the day I met the girl who would become my best friend. She came up to me as I was checking out and said ‘I love you…. Ok, that was weird, I meant to say I that follow you on Instagram, but yeah, man, I love you too!’ We started chatting and I found out not only was she a new joiner but she was a Canadian and my neighbor. The rest they say is history! She’s my best friend now and we are currently looking for a flat to share.”

Top three tips to communicate with your followers:

  1. Keep an open dialogue with everyone you meet. You will be amazed at how your point of view will be changed through the exchange of ideas!
  2. As simple as it sounds, listen. Not just to words, but to the sounds all around you. The laughter, the music and sometimes the silence, it can speak volumes
  3. Speak your heart.  You can weigh your words, but always be true to who you are and don’t be afraid to stand for what you have to say

4 tricks to avoid while communicating with your followers:

  1. Don’t post everything you do in your life.  Personal things should be kept personal.
  2. The same goes for politics.  Just because you have a platform and an opinion doesn’t mean you should share it. Don’t alienate others just because you think one way. I keep my blog about travel and I keep my strongest personal feelings to myself.
  3. Tell others about the history of the places you are in or something unique about what you are doing.  The best blogs are where you come away having learned something new that expands your outlook on life.
  4. Much like in daily life, we all have different opinions. So respect that about others and keep it polite and friendly. Don’t try to force others to think the same. After all this world works because we all think differently!

Elizabethe on WOC

“I absolutely love your app, it really helps me out when I travel the world to be able to see my discounts in every city! I don’t travel without it! I mostly use the app to help me find great places to eat and shop in each city. It is an invaluable tool for every world traveler. I highly recommend it to any crew.”

Thank you so much Elizabethe. It’s positive words from people like you that keeps us going. We hope we can keep delivering like this and make the app even better.

WOC note

We loved so many things about Elizabethe’s blog and Instagram account, but guess what we loved the most was the attitude with which Elizabethe embraces her travel experience and everything in life.
